Acne scarring is highly treatable — but it requires patience and a series of treatments. At Devenir, we assess your specific scar types (rolling, boxcar, ice pick, hypertrophic) and build a protocol that addresses the texture, depth, and pigmentation components.
What causes it
When inflammatory acne penetrates deep into the dermis, it damages the collagen matrix. As the skin heals, it can produce too little collagen (depressed, atrophic scars) or too much (raised, hypertrophic scars). Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) adds a pigmented component for many patients.
Best approaches
RF Microneedling is our first-line treatment for most acne scarring — it rebuilds collagen throughout the dermis, improving all scar subtypes. CO2 Laser provides more dramatic results for severe scarring. Chemical peels address the PIH component. Filler can raise individual depressed scars.
Most patients need a series of 3–6 RF Microneedling sessions for significant improvement. CO2 laser can produce dramatic results in 1–2 sessions but requires more downtime.
Can all acne scars be eliminated?
Significant improvement is achievable for most scar types. Ice pick scars (deep, narrow) are the most resistant — punch excision or trichloroacetic acid (TCA) cross may be needed for these specifically.
