Important Safety Notice

  • Follow the instructions given by your Devenir provider, as individual treatment plans may differ.
  • Do not start or stop prescription medication because of these instructions unless authorized by the prescribing clinician and your Devenir provider.
  • Contact Devenir promptly for an unexpected or worsening reaction. Call 911 or seek emergency care for difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, chest pain, fainting, sudden vision changes, or another medical emergency.

Injectables

Botox & Dysport
  • Do not manipulate the treated area for 3 hours following treatment.
  • Results take about 14 days to appear — if the desired result isn't seen after 2 weeks, you may need an additional touch-up.
  • Do not apply skincare products or makeup for 6 hours following treatment.
  • Do not submerge in water for 24 hours (hot tub, swimming, etc.) — showering and washing your face with regular products is fine.
Dermal Fillers
  • Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by your provider.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid extensive sun or heat exposure for 72 hours.
  • Avoid excess alcohol or salt intake to help minimize swelling or bruising.
  • Apply a clean cool compress for short intervals if swelling occurs. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Mild tenderness, swelling, firmness, or bruising may occur and should gradually improve.
  • Contact Devenir immediately for severe or increasing pain, blanching or whitening of the skin, dusky or mottled discoloration, cool skin, unusual swelling, or a sore that develops near the treatment area.
  • Seek emergency evaluation immediately for any change in vision, severe eye pain, weakness, difficulty speaking, or another neurologic symptom.
Kybella
  • Avoid extreme heat for 24 hours post-treatment (Jacuzzi, hot showers, etc.).
  • Avoid alcohol or sodium for 3 days to prevent excess swelling.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated to reduce swelling.
  • Expect swelling and bruising for 3–5 days, decreasing over a few weeks (can last 4–6 weeks total).
  • Ice packs may be used for the first 12 hours (15 minutes every hour, discontinue if uncomfortable).
  • Do not massage the injection site. Numbness can last up to 12 weeks; full results appear around 12 weeks. Most patients need 2–3 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
  • Contact our office if you experience significant swelling, bleeding, pain, dusky discoloration, difficulty swallowing/smiling, or fever.
Sculptra
  • The 5-5-5 rule: massage treated areas 5 times a day, for about 5 minutes, for 5 days after treatment.
  • Hold ice packs on treated areas gently (10 min on, 10 min off) a few times the day of treatment to reduce swelling.
  • Makeup may be worn the following day.
  • Expect redness, swelling, and bruising for the first 5–10 days.
  • Avoid strenuous workouts and alcohol for 24–48 hours.
  • For bruising, Arnica, fresh pineapple juice, or Bromelain supplements may help it resolve faster.
  • Results build gradually as your own collagen forms — the immediate volume will be absorbed within a few days, which is expected.
Kenalog Injection
  • Do not touch, scratch, or manipulate the injection site.
  • Apply ice wrapped in a cloth for 10–15 minutes at a time to reduce swelling/discomfort, if recommended.
  • Keep the area clean per your provider's instructions to prevent infection.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and heat — Kenalog can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours.
  • It can take a few days for inflammation to subside; contact us if you notice unusual redness, swelling, or skin discoloration.
Hylenex (Filler Dissolving)
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Wait at least 4 hours before applying makeup. Waiting 24 hours is preferred.
  • Avoid alcohol for 1–2 days if bruising or swelling occurs.
  • Do not massage or manipulate the treated area unless instructed by your provider.
  • Use a clean cool compress for short intervals if needed. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Do not start or stop aspirin, blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medication, or supplements without authorization from the prescribing clinician and your Devenir provider.
  • Avoid dental work for two weeks after treatment unless medically necessary.
  • Contact us promptly for worsening swelling, hives, rash, increasing pain, significant redness, or another unexpected reaction. Call 911 for difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or throat.
B-12 Injections
  • Effects begin within several hours to a few days after treatment.
  • Mild side effects can include pain/redness/itching at the injection site or mild diarrhea — these pass with time.
  • Contact your doctor promptly if you notice muscle cramps, weakness, or irregular heartbeat.
  • Most patients receive injections every 2–4 weeks; your provider will determine frequency based on your history.

Brows & Lashes

Brow Waxing & Threading
  • Avoid touching, rubbing, scratching, or picking the treated area for the rest of the day.
  • Avoid makeup, fragranced products, retinol, exfoliating acids, scrubs, and strong acne products around the brows for 24–48 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming for 24 hours.
  • Use a clean cool compress or provider-approved soothing product if mild redness or tenderness occurs.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher once the skin is comfortable and intact.
  • Contact us if redness, swelling, blistering, drainage, or pain becomes severe or worsens.
Brow Tint, Henna & Lamination
  • Keep the brows dry and avoid steam, saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating for the first 24 hours.
  • Do not rub, scrub, exfoliate, or apply retinol, acids, oils, or strong skincare directly to the brows for 24–48 hours.
  • Avoid applying brow makeup for the rest of the day.
  • After brow lamination, gently brush the hairs into place with a clean spoolie. Do not force or repeatedly manipulate the hairs.
  • Use a gentle conditioner or provider-approved brow product if recommended.
  • Contact us for significant swelling, blistering, persistent burning, eye irritation, or signs of an allergic reaction.
Lash Lift & Tint
  • Keep the lashes dry and avoid steam, saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid mascara, eyeliner, eye creams, oils, lash serums, and makeup remover around the lashes for 24 hours.
  • Do not rub your eyes, sleep face-down, use an eyelash curler, or apply false lashes during the first 24 hours.
  • After 24 hours, brush the lashes gently with a clean spoolie and avoid waterproof mascara or harsh rubbing when possible.
  • Contact us promptly for persistent redness, swelling, burning, discharge, or eye irritation.
  • Seek urgent eye care for severe eye pain, light sensitivity, or any change in vision.

Laser & Energy

Laser Genesis
  • Avoid sun exposure and use broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to prevent further sun damage.
  • Bruising, redness, and swelling may occur and resolve with time.
  • Avoid heat (hot tubs, saunas) for 1–2 days.
  • Avoid skin irritants for a few days post-treatment (tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents).
  • Multiple treatments are typically required.
IPL Photofacial
  • No exercise, extreme sweating, or heating the skin (hot baths/showers) for 48–72 hours post-treatment.
  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, harsh scrubs, anti-aging products, or bleaching creams for 5 days (Accutane contraindicated).
  • Avoid picking or scratching the treated area; do not shave or exfoliate until fully healed — apply gentle moisturizer if crusting appears.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 2 weeks post-treatment and reapply SPF 30+ every 2 hours for incidental sun exposure.
  • Use a gentle cleanser (fingertips only, pat dry) until skin is healed.
  • Expect mild swelling, redness, and crusting for up to 5 days (occasionally longer).
Photofractional
  • No exercise/extreme sweating or heating the skin for 3–5 days post-treatment.
  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, harsh scrubs, anti-aging products, or bleaching creams for 7 days (Accutane contraindicated).
  • Avoid picking, scratching, shaving, or exfoliating the treated area until fully healed.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 30 days following the final treatment; reapply SPF 30+ every 2 hours for incidental exposure.
  • Use a gentle cleanser (fingertips only, pat dry).
  • Expect mild swelling, redness, and crusting for up to 5 days.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
  • Start washing your face 1–2 hours after treatment with a gentle cleanser and cold water, 3–4 times daily; apply a medical barrier cream after cleansing. You may shower the next day but avoid hot water on the treated area.
  • Skin may feel warm like a sunburn for the first 2–3 hours — cool compresses can help. Expect swelling, redness, and crusting for up to 5 days (occasionally longer).
  • No exercise or sweat-inducing activity until your follow-up appointment. Avoid sun, strong wind, and pool/ocean water for 1 month following the procedure.
  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, harsh scrubs, and bleaching creams for 10 days (Accutane contraindicated).
  • Avoid picking, scratching, shaving, or exfoliating the treated area until fully healed.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 30 days following the final treatment; use SPF 30+ every 2 hours for incidental exposure.
  • Follow up with your provider at 1 week and again at 1 month. Contact the office if blistering occurs.
Laser Hair Removal
  • No exercise/extreme sweating or heating the skin for 24–48 hours post-treatment.
  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, harsh scrubs, and bleaching creams for 5 days (Accutane contraindicated).
  • Avoid picking, scratching, shaving, or exfoliating the treated area until fully healed.
  • Redness and perifollicular edema (looks like small bug bites) are common and resolve with time; hair may take up to 2 weeks to fall out.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 30 days after the final treatment; use SPF 30+ every 2 hours for incidental exposure.
  • A series of treatments is required — number of sessions depends on body area and hair type. Do not wax or pluck between sessions.
CoolView Vascular & Pigment Treatments
  • Avoid sun exposure and use broad-spectrum sunscreen to prevent further damage — for at least 2 weeks post-treatment if targeting vascular concerns.
  • Bruising, redness, and swelling are common and will resolve with time.
  • Treated pigment will darken (brown to black) within 24–48 hours — do not pick at it. It exfoliates off in about 1 week on the face, 2–3 weeks on the body.
  • Avoid heat (hot tubs, saunas) for 1–2 days and skin irritants for a few days post-treatment.
  • Notify the clinic of any excessive redness, swelling, or blistering.
RF Microneedling
  • Do not wash your face for at least 6–8 hours post-treatment; wash and pat dry gently twice daily until crusting sloughs off naturally.
  • Apply a mild, unscented moisturizer twice daily for 2 weeks or until fully healed.
  • A fine scab/crusting develops 3–5 days after treatment — do not force it off. Expect redness, dryness, swelling, and some discomfort for 2–3 days.
  • Apply sunblock every 3–4 hours for at least 2 weeks to a month post-treatment.

  • Use a clean cool compress for short intervals if needed. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Cleanse gently with cool or lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Pat dry and apply the moisturizer or recovery product recommended by your provider.
  • Do not pick, scratch, scrub, shave, or exfoliate peeling or crusting skin.
  • Avoid retinol, Retin-A, exfoliating acids, scrubs, bleaching creams, and other irritating skincare for at least 5–7 days and until the skin is healed.

Skin Services

Chemical Peel
  • Do not use any products not approved by your provider — many cleansers/moisturizers contain alpha-hydroxy acids or retinoids that can cause a reaction after a peel.
  • Cleanse with a gentle facial wash 6–8 hours after your procedure, then twice daily.
  • Ice may be applied during the first 24 hours for discomfort (20 minutes on, 40 minutes off — never longer than 20 minutes at a time).
  • Use approved gentle moisturizers to relieve dryness; avoid foundation makeup during the peeling process.
  • Do not pull or peel shedding skin. Apply sunscreen beginning 1 hour post-procedure.
  • Expect a windburned feeling for 2–3 days, with flaking for 3–5 days (up to 2 weeks for stronger peels). Temporary dark spots/patches are normal.
Dermaplaning
  • Use a gentle cleanser for the first 24–48 hours — avoid abrasive cleansers, washcloths, skin brushes, retinol, salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide for 5 days.
  • No Retin-A for 5 days post-treatment.
  • Use a hydrating moisturizer twice daily; darker skin tones may use 1% hydrocortisone for 5 days to control post-inflammatory pigmentation.
  • SPF is essential daily — avoid sun exposure as much as possible.
  • Wait 24 hours to apply makeup, and clean makeup brushes/replace sponges beforehand.
  • Avoid excessive heat, heavy workouts, steam rooms, and saunas for 48 hours. Wait 7 days before facial waxing.
  • Schedule your next appointment 4 weeks out to optimize results.
HydraFacial
  • Avoid exfoliation to the area for 48 hours post-treatment.
  • Avoid heat sources (hot showers, saunas, sweat-inducing workouts) for 24 hours.
  • You may wash your face the following morning using your recommended products; discuss resuming your regular regimen with your provider.
  • Do not use topical Retin-A for 2 days following treatment.
  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure/tanning beds for at least 3 days; use SPF 30+ daily for 3–5 days.
  • Makeup may be applied the day after treatment.
Glo2Facial
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and help flush toxins.
  • Avoid touching your face and skip at-home facial massage; avoid makeup for the rest of the day.
  • Wait 2–3 days before using potentially irritating skincare (toners, exfoliants, new products, acne treatments, vitamin C, retinol).
  • Stay out of direct sunlight and high heat; use noncomedogenic sunscreen.
  • Do not wash your face or shower for at least 6 hours post-treatment. Avoid exercise right after your treatment.
  • Avoid waxing, shaving, or plucking the treated area for a few days after.
MesoGold Microneedling Facial
  • Effects begin within a few days — allow two full weeks to see full results. A second treatment (if needed) should not occur within 2 weeks of the first.
  • Cleanse gently with cool water and a gentle cleanser at least 6 hours after treatment; pat dry.
  • Makeup, sunscreen, and gentle skincare may be applied the following day, with clean fingertips only — avoid brushes/sponges/powder puffs and aggressive products for about a week.

D.E.J BioStim Treatment
  • Use only the cleanser, moisturizer, recovery products, and sunscreen recommended by your provider.
  • Follow the Revision Skincare Procedure Prep & Recover regimen provided to you, including the timing for beginning each product.
  • Avoid retinol, Retin-A, exfoliating acids, scrubs, benzoyl peroxide, and other irritating skincare for 5–7 days or until the skin has fully recovered.

Evolve Transform (Body Contouring)
  • Keep skin hydrated with a thick moisturizer after your session.
  • Avoid very hot water and direct heat exposure for 2 days.
  • Avoid UV exposure (tanning bed or sun) for 7 days post-treatment.
  • Avoid scrubbing or scratching the treated area, and do not apply cold to the area post-treatment.
TruFlex
  • You may generally return to normal daily activities unless your provider gives different instructions.
  • Mild muscle soreness, tenderness, tingling, or temporary muscle contractions may occur for several hours to a few days.
  • Stay well hydrated after treatment.
  • Use gentle movement and avoid unusually intense exercise of the treated muscles if they feel significantly sore.
  • Do not apply excessive heat or pressure to skin that feels irritated beneath the treatment electrodes.
  • Contact us for severe or worsening pain, persistent muscle weakness or contractions, blistering, burns, marked swelling, numbness, or another unexpected reaction.
Sclerotherapy
  • Walk regularly after treatment and avoid prolonged sitting or standing as directed by your provider.
  • Wear the recommended compression stockings or bandages for the period specified by your provider.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, hot baths, hot tubs, saunas, and excessive heat for the interval provided by your clinician.
  • Do not shave the treated area or apply lotion until the injection sites have healed.
  • Treated veins may temporarily look darker or more noticeable. Mild bruising, redness, tenderness, firmness, or a small hard area can occur.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area and use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher once the skin is intact.
  • Use only pain medication approved by your treating provider. Do not start or stop aspirin, NSAIDs, or prescribed blood thinners without medical authorization.
  • Contact us promptly for increasing redness, drainage, severe pain, marked swelling, an ulcer, or another unexpected reaction. Seek urgent care for chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing blood, or sudden one-sided leg swelling.

Permanent Makeup & Tattoo

Cosmetic Tattoo
  • Follow the area-specific cleaning and moisture instructions provided by your cosmetic tattoo artist. Instructions may differ for brows, lips, eyeliner, areola, and scar camouflage.
  • Wash your hands before touching the treated area and use only the cleanser, ointment, or dressing recommended by your provider.
  • Do not pick, peel, scratch, rub, or remove flaking skin. Allow the area to heal naturally.
  • Avoid makeup, retinol, exfoliating acids, fragranced products, and other irritating products directly on the treated area until it is healed.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, soaking, and direct water pressure on the area for the period instructed by your provider.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure. Once the skin has healed, protect the area with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.
  • For lip tattooing, take antiviral medication exactly as prescribed if you have a history of cold sores.
  • For eyeliner tattooing, avoid contact lenses and eye makeup until irritation has resolved and the skin has healed. Seek urgent eye care for severe eye pain, light sensitivity, or any change in vision.
  • Contact us for worsening redness, warmth, swelling, drainage, fever, severe pain, or signs of infection.
Tattoo Removal
  • Keep the treated area clean and covered as instructed for the first few days.
  • Avoid picking, scratching, or popping any blisters that form — allow them to heal naturally.
  • Avoid sun exposure on the treated area and use SPF once healed.
  • Avoid swimming, soaking, or submerging the area until fully healed.
  • Multiple sessions, spaced several weeks apart, are typically required for full fading.
Laser Eyeliner Tattoo Removal
  • Mild eyelid redness, swelling, tenderness, crusting, or temporary pigment darkening may occur.
  • Apply a clean cool compress for 5–10 minutes at a time as needed. Do not place ice directly on the skin or press on the eyes.
  • Do not rub, scratch, pick, peel, or pop blisters on the treated eyelids.
  • Keep the area clean and dry and use only the ointment, eye drops, or medication specifically recommended or prescribed by your provider.
  • Do not wear contact lenses until eye irritation has resolved and your provider says they may be resumed.
  • Avoid eye makeup, false lashes, eyelash extensions, retinol, acids, and irritating skincare until the skin is fully closed and healed.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, and soaking for at least 24–48 hours and until the area is healed.
  • Sleep with your head elevated the first night if swelling occurs.
  • Contact Devenir immediately for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, drainage, severe blistering, or worsening pain.
  • Seek urgent eye care immediately for any change in vision, severe or persistent eye pain, significant light sensitivity, persistent blurred or double vision, an irregular pupil, or increasing eye redness or drainage.

Other Treatments

Earlobe Repair
  • Follow all medication and wound-care instructions provided by Dr. Schaefer.
  • Use a clean cold pack for 5–10 minutes at a time, up to 3 times daily during the first two days. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
  • Keep the surgical site clean and dry as directed. Clean gently with sterile saline or mild soap and water when permitted, then pat dry.
  • Do not use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, iodine, or other harsh cleansers unless specifically directed by Dr. Schaefer.
  • Apply antibiotic ointment only if it was recommended or prescribed.
  • Keep your head elevated above heart level during the first 3 days to help reduce swelling and throbbing.

  • Take prescribed antibiotics, steroids, and pain medication exactly as directed.
  • Contact us for worsening redness, warmth, swelling, drainage, fever, severe pain, wound separation, or uncontrolled bleeding.

  • Wash your hands before cleaning or touching the piercing.
  • Clean the area with sterile saline wound wash as directed, then gently dry it with clean disposable gauze or a paper product.
  • Do not twist, spin, or rotate the jewelry while the piercing is healing.
  • Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, antibacterial soap, or ointment unless specifically directed by your medical provider.
  • Leave the initial jewelry in place until your provider confirms it can be changed or removed.
  • Avoid pressure, friction, sleeping directly on the piercing, and snagging it on clothing, towels, headphones, or phones.
  • Avoid swimming and submerging the piercing until your provider says it is safe.
