Spider Veins

Spider veins are common, well-understood, and highly treatable. Sclerotherapy has been the standard of care for decades — it's fast, effective, and produces lasting results with minimal discomfort.

What causes it

Spider veins (telangiectasias) develop when small blood vessels near the skin's surface dilate and become visible. Contributing factors include genetics, prolonged standing, pregnancy, hormonal changes, and sun exposure. They're extremely common — affecting an estimated 50–55% of women.

Best approaches

Sclerotherapy is the gold standard — a sclerosing solution is injected directly into each vein, causing it to collapse and gradually disappear as the body absorbs it. Coolview and YAG spot treatment and Hyfrecation offer additional options for treating individual surface vessels too small or fine for injection. Results are visible within 3–6 weeks per treatment.

Does sclerotherapy hurt?

Mild stinging during injection is normal. The needles used are extremely fine, and most patients describe the sensation as tolerable. No anesthesia is required.
