How Kybella Works
Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown of dietary fat. When injected into submental fat, it disrupts the fat cell membrane, causing the cells to rupture and die. The body then naturally clears the cellular debris over the following weeks, producing a more defined, sculpted jawline and neck profile.
Because the destroyed fat cells cannot regenerate, results are permanent — as long as you maintain a stable weight.
What to Expect
Most patients require 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Swelling after treatment is expected and is actually a sign the treatment is working — it reflects the inflammatory process that destroys the fat cells. Swelling typically peaks at 48–72 hours and resolves within 1–2 weeks. Numbness or mild discomfort in the area is also normal and temporary.
Kybella vs. EvolvX
